Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut announced Thursday, September 30th that Jeffrey G. Trzeciak has been selected as the next Director of OhioLINK. He was nominated by the OhioLINK executive director search committee, which was formed on March 17, 2010, and co-chaired by Lev Gonick of Case Western Reserve University and Dr. Victoria Montavan of the University of Cincinnati.
Trzeciak currently serves as University Librarian and Adjunct Assistant Professor in Multimedia and Communications at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Previously he served eight years in the Wayne State University Library System, including time as the Associate Dean, and has spent over 24 years working in libraries. He is an active presenter at national and international conferences on digital library initiatives and library innovation.
“A strong library system is not only a powerful resource for students and learning, but also critical for the vitality of academic discourse and high-level research,” said Chancellor Fingerhut. “The OhioLINK consortium already saves the University System of Ohio and many private Ohio colleges and universities millions each year. With Jeff’s passion for libraries and his extensive leadership experience, OhioLINK’s contributions to Ohio’s Strategic Plan for Higher Education and to the state’s educational network are sure to grow aggressively.”
"It is an honor to be named to this position and I look forward to working with the library community and the Chancellor's office to deliver the resources and services Ohioans need to be successful in their academic careers," said Trzeciak.
Update: on October 25, 2010, Chancellor Fingerhut announced that Jeff Trzeciak had decided to remain at the McMaster University Libraries and will not become Executive Director of OhioLINK.
