EBC Down on Thursday

The Electronic Book Center (EBC) will be down for much of Thursday, November 27 (Thanksgiving Day). This downtime is needed to reload and reindex material in the EBC.

The EBC will also be down much of Saturday, November 29, as part of OhioLINK's system-wide maintenance work.

Did you know OhioLINK is on Facebook? OhioLINK’s Facebook page provides quick and easy access to resources such as the Electronic Journal Center, What’s New headlines, and the creative This Is My OhioLINK videos created by students and staff.

You can also add the OhioLINKCat application to your Facebook page and be able to search for books, e-journals and e-books right from Facebook.

American Chemical Society Journals Unavailable This Weekend

Articles and journals published by the American Chemical Society (ACS) will be unavailable for some or all of this weekend, beginning November 15 at 8:30 a.m., while ACS deploys a new Web delivery platform.

You’ll notice this disruption both when accessing American Chemical Society content directly at their Web site, and when following links from the OhioLINK Electronic Journal Center to articles housed on ACS’s site.

Magazines Delivered to Your Desktop, No Subscription Required!

Did you know that in addition to scholarly and research journals, you can also access popular magazines, trade journals and newspapers via OhioLINK? With online magazine and journal content you can choose to browse a particular issue or article, or search on your desired topic.

There are a wide variety of magazines available, including Consumer Reports, Field & Stream, Forbes, Good Housekeeping, Money, Organic Gardening, Outdoor Life, Popular Science, Prevention, Rolling Stone, Scientific American, Smithsonian, and Time, just to name a few.

Find more electronic magazines and journals:

  2. Enter the name of the magazine or journal you wish to find.

  4. Follow the links to access the resource you want. For the full text of past Consumer Reports issues, follow the links to Consumer Reports in EBSCO's Academic Search Premier.

    Once you arrive at the title page for a particular publication, you can browse issues by date, or click on the link in the upper-right of the screen to “search within this publication." Click the Alert / Save / Share link to bookmark a publication or article, or to set up automatic e-mail or RSS feed alerts so you’ll know when new issues become available.

    But Wait, There Are Even More Magazines Available!

    Several more magazines not listed in the Electronic Journal Finder are available from the database America’s News Magazines, including Business 2.0, Entertainment Weekly, Essence, Fortune, In Style, Newsweek, Parenting, Time, and U.S. News & World Report.

    To read an article from Money, for example, just click on Money in the alphabetical list of titles. Then you can search within or browse issues dating back to 1986. Search by typing your topic in the second box and clicking on search. Browse entire issues by clicking on a date under recent issues or use jump to month to get to older issues.
