More than 10,000 sound recordings from The Ohio State University's Borror Laboratory of Bioacoustics are now available through the OhioLINK Digital Media Center.
The new additions of more than 6,000 recordings are of songbirds (primarily tanagers and sparrows). The Borror Laboratory of Bioacoustics Recorded Sounds Collection is available to all OhioLINK users and the general public at http://worlddmc.ohiolink.edu/media/borror/blbLogin.
The Borror Laboratory of Bioacoustics houses one of the largest collections of recorded animal sounds in the world. Founded by the late Dr. Donald Borror, Professor of Entomology and Zoology at The Ohio State University, the collection contains approximately 28,000 recordings of more than 1000 species of animals.
Howard Rheingold, one of the world's foremost authorities on the social impact of the Internet and digital technologies, will be the keynote speaker at the Ohio Commons for Digital Education 2004 - The Convergence of Libraries, Learning & Technology Conference, March 7–9 in Columbus, Ohio. On Monday, March 8, Rheingold will address the theme of the conference—the convergence of libraries, learning and technology—using his own research and unique point of view.
Rheingold was the editor of The Whole Earth Review, the Millennium Whole Earth Catalog, and founding executive editor of HotWired webzine.
