Several new electronic resources are now available to OhioLINK users: Access Science, Annals of American History Online, the Britannica Online Set, Enciclopedia Universal en Espaņol;, the NewsBank newspaper collection of 17 Ohio and 13 non-Ohio newspapers, and the Oxford Reference Online Core Collection. These resources are available to all OhioLINK libraries and are listed in the OhioLINK menus. Remote access is also available.
These additions are funded by a Library Services Technology Act (LSTA) grant to Libraries Connect Ohio (LCO). LCO is a collaborative effort of OhioLINK, OPLIN, INFOhio and the State Library of Ohio. As part of the Statewide Core Electronic Information Collection, these resources are available to all Ohioans through their school, public or academic library.
The LSTA grant also includes access to 13 Chadwyck-Healey/Proquest databases and the AMICO image collection. OhioLINK users already have access to eight of the literature databases and the AMICO Library. Work is underway to provide access to the remaining five Chadwyck-Healey databases.
The new OhioLINK Library Catalog design is now live.
What's different? Besides a fresh, new look, the new Catalog includes a search box on the first screen that allows users to instantly conduct a keyword, author, title, or subject heading search. Other search options are just a click away.
Enhancements are also being made to the OhioLINK Web site. The new site will be launched in August
The four-millionth article was recently added to the OhioLINK Electronic Journal Center. The EJC, which is now in its sixth year of service, currently contains the complete electronic collections of 33 journal publishers. Students, faculty, and researchers at OhioLINK institutions now have access to more than 5,250 journal titles.
A press release celebrating this milestone is available at http://www.ohiolink.edu/about/news.html.
OhioLINK is pleased to announce the addition of Safari Tech Books Online. This site provides electronic books in computer science, information technology, and related fields. Safari Tech Books Online is now available to all OhioLINK participating libraries. It replaces Books24x7 as OhioLINK's provider of technology e-books.
Safari Tech Books Online can be accessed through the OhioLINK database pages. In the future, catalog records in the Central Catalog will allow you to link from the catalog directly to the individual e-book.
Distance and non-traditional students, among others, will benefit from OhioLINK's new Pickup Anywhere service. Pickup Anywhere, a new option in the OhioLINK Library Catalog, is now available to all OhioLINK users.
In the past, users were only able to pick up a requested item at one of their own campus locations. Now, with Pickup Anywhere, users can pick up a requested item at locations associated with other OhioLINK participating institutions.
The Pickup Anywhere option expands OhioLINK services to distance learners and other users who are not located near their home campus. This new service supports OhioLINK's goal of providing the most efficient and effective means of delivering information to users, regardless of format.
