OhioLINK Will Convert to EBSCO’s Sociological Index July 1

Effective July 1, OhioLINK will subscribe to EBSCO's Sociological Index and end its subscription to CSA's Sociological Abstracts. A committee of OhioLINK librarians studied both databases and found that Sociological Index has more complete coverage of a greater number of journals, more current information, and superior backfiles for key journals.

EBSCO describes Sociological Index as “The world's most comprehensive and highest quality sociology research database. This index features more than 1,300,000 records with subject headings from a 15,000 term sociology-specific thesaurus designed by expert lexicographers. This file also contains informative abstracts for more than 590 'core' coverage journals dating back to 1895. In addition, this file provides data mined from more than 500 'priority' coverage journals as well as 1,040 'selective' coverage journals."

The current Sociological Abstracts database will remain available from OhioLINK after July 1, but will not be updated.
