Ohio Authors (1962): "Affleck, Thomas (July 13,1812-Dec. 30, 1868), agriculturalist, born in Dumfries, Scotland, came to America in 1832. From 1840 to 1842 he was junior editor of Western Farmer and Gardiner, published in Cincinnati. He then moved to Mississippi and subsequently to Texas. As an advocate of diversified farming in the South, he published articles and almanacs. He also wrote Bee Breeding in the West, Cincinnati, 1841."
