Notes:
HAYMAN: An early edition of a Midwestern classic. The first edition was published in 1833, as noted by several different bibliographers. Howes [F 199] shows a second edition of 1834 (Morgan: as does Sabin) but no such edition is cited in American Imprints nor is there one for 1835, which would made this 1836 edition the second edition. American Imprints cites an 1836 edition of this title but with 267 pp. - the present 1836 edition is not cited there. Jillison [RARE KENTUCKY BOOKS, pp. 93-94] says the second edition was published in 1847 although a cursory examination of bibliographical sources would have shown several other editions prior to that date. Coleman 793. Jillson's THE BOONE NARRATIVE [page 52] cites the 1833 edition and several later ones but not this one. Sabin 24784. Graff 1352 (1833 edition). A worn copy but an elusive title in any condition.
